How does the program help children improve their skills?
Children who need additional help catching up meet with literacy assistants and Title I aides who work with them in a variety of ways. Small intervention groups are formed according to student need. These students also get more specialized instruction and practice in their regular classrooms.
Our elementary school students work in guided reading groups during an uninterrupted school-wide 90-minute literacy block every day. Each child works in centers and with the teacher at his/her own level.

What do students do in small intervention groups?
Students work in small groups or by themselves. They are guided through activities and games that strengthen their skills. The literacy room has many tools to fit the needs of all students. Some are web-based tools and others are not. All interventions are research-based.
